(Two raps, chair officers only rising.)
Faithful Navigator - Faithful Pilot what are the emblems of this Degree?
Faithful Pilot - The Flag, the Sword and the Cross.
Faithful Navigator - Yes, Sir Knights, these glorious symbols typify patriotism, liberty and faith, the heaven-sent attributes of our Christian citizenship.
Faithful Pilot what say you for the flag?
Faithful Pilot - The flag of OUR Country is our pride. We love it, and shall ever defend it.
Faithful Navigator - Faithful Admiral, what say you for the Sword?
Faithful Admiral - Let us keep it bright for Liberty=s sake.
Faithful Navigator - Faithful Captain, what say you for the Cross?
Faithful Captain - (Holding cross aloft) This is the Cross of Christ, the exponent of Christian ideals, the conqueror of death, the giver of life. Supreme reverence for this sacred symbol will crown our Country queen in the sisterhood of nations. It is the bulwark of national honour, the inspiration of patriotism, the guardian of personal worth; for it was crimsoned with the blood of self-sacrifice.
Faithful Navigator - Sir Knights, we pledge undying allegiance to the Cross of Christ, and to Christ=s Vicar upon earth.
Sir Knights, we shall now close this meeting. Let us pray that we may ever be united in charity, that God may bless our work, aid us to keep our pledges for His greater glory, and that he may grant eternal peace to the souls of our departed brothers. (Faithful Friar or Faithful Admiral to lead the Assembly in prayer).
Sir Knights, let us now face the flag and sing the Closing Ode.
Note: The Closing Ode shall always be the National Anthem.
Attendance Draw and 50/50 Draw
I now declare this Assembly duly closed until our next appointed meeting
October 19th , 2006
Faithful Navigator’s Report
September 21, 2006 General Meeting
The Executive agreed that we should continue having a 50/50 Draw and refreshments at our General Meetings. The Executive decided that in an attempt to increase attendance at our General Meetings we should have an Attendance Draw this year. The draw would start at $10 and increment by $10 for each month that it is not won with no cut-off limit. If the Sir Knight’s name is drawn he must be present to win the draw.
We will be joining Our Lady of Ludzmieerz Assembly, 1206 Steeles Avenue West in Brampton, for our Installation of Officers, which will be held on Saturday November 4, 2006. Mass at 6 PM followed by the Installation. Cost is $15 per person, which includes buffet dinner and bottle of wine on each table.
The Executive discussed as to whether or not the Assembly should develop and implement a Memorial Service for our deceased Sir Knights. It was decided that we should look into developing such a service and that if it is approved this service would be held at the wake of the Sir Knight after consulting with his family and his Council. Sir Knight Murray Goodfellow has offered to assist with the development of this service based on both the Wake Service used by Humber Valley Council and the Knights of Columbus Memorial Service, a copy of which was provided to us by S.K. Felix Pires.
We need to present last year’s Ciborium, in honour of our deceased members, to Father Ed Murphy (S.K. Ed Hammond).
Sir Knight Aurel Chiasson has indicated that we need to recruit 28 new Sir Knights for the upcoming fraternal year. The Master will be sending out correspondence regarding the affiliation of councils for each assembly and information about the June Exemplification in Niagara Falls.
We discussed the various ways that the Assembly communicates with the members.
1. We reviewed the operations of the phone committee. It appears that some Sir Knights are not being contacted. Both of these situations need to be addressed. A separate meeting of the Phone Committee will be scheduled.
2. Sir Knight Murray Goodfellow is working on the members’ list and the email list. It appears that some Sir Knights are not their email or we do not have their latest email address.
3. The Assembly now has a website (kofc0872.tripod.com) that lists the upcoming events and parades along with the members and their families who are ill or have passed away. If there is difficulty in accessing the website directly through your browser, such as Internet Explorer, then enter the website address using Google and click on the link that is displayed.
4. Each council that is affiliated with the Assembly has been asked to appoint one or more Fourth Degree representatives to promote membership and Assembly events.
5. Our newsletter will be sent out before the September General Meeting. Articles will need to be sent to SK Damiano by early September. The newsletter will be emailed in PDF format. Those members without email will be mailed their newsletter.
We reviewed our program for this fraternal year.
